Studio Policies

Dance class is educational and fun, however, an important part of class work is developing an attitude of discipline and respect for teachers and fellow students. We trust that following our classroom etiquette will provide an environment whereby classes at Dance City Studio will be a pleasure for all concerned!

We request that students and parents carefully observe our outlined policies:

  1. Inclement Weather Policy: The Studio is closed when Lakeside Schools are closed due to inclement weather. Please check out our Facebook Page or call the studio and listen to the answering machine to confirm closings. These classes will not be rescheduled.

  2. Recital Policy: Annual stage performance is voluntary. If you choose not to participate, it must be in writing and submitted to Mrs. Patty by October 1st. All other registered students will be included in costume orders and billed accordingly. All costumes are chosen by Mrs. Patty and her decision is final.  Please note NO refunds of Costume payment after you have agreed to participate in Recital.

  3. Timeliness: Please be on time for your scheduled class. Dance City appreciates timeliness in dropping off and picking up your student. Students are not to be dropped off at the studio more than 15 minutes early for class.

  4. Attendance: All students are encouraged not to leave the room once class has begun. Please allow for appropriate restroom use prior to class.  Very young children will be treated sensitively as the need arises. Preschool children may need a parent’s attention from time to time for various reasons including bathroom or behavior issues. Please do not leave the waiting room when very young children are in class without informing the office. We make every effort to have all children feel safe and cared for in a loving and inspiring learning environment.

  5. Conduct: School age children and teens, please practice respect.  Students are not to be socializing in a disruptive manner during the class with other students.  Please honor your teacher and fellow students by giving full attention and co-operation.  You will be advised if we feel any student is not well adjusted to the classroom environment for any reason over time.

  6. Illness or Injury: During class if a student complains of being ill, or sustains an injury and cannot participate, the instructor will send them to the waiting room where the parents will be notified if not on the premises.

  7. Observations: Only students with a pre-existing sickness/injury are allowed to observe class. A parent must notify the office in advance if a student is to observe class.

  8. Exclusivity: Dance City Studio is the sole owner of any Choreography in dances and routines.  At no time is it permissible for a student to perform, share or teach a routine or any parts of any routine. NO routine will be publically performed prior to the recital date for that year. It is up to Mrs. Patty if she allows a student to perform routine after the recital date. Permission must be given - Dance City has the exclusive legal right and ownership as the originator of all choreography. NO student or an assignee can print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic, or musical materials. See Copyright Laws.
